Dr. Michael S. DeShields, MD

Dr. Michael S. DeShields, MD, is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport and Temple University Medical School. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) in Addiction Medicine. He is a Certified Medical Review Officer and a Physician Support Mentor credentialed through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Substance Abuse & Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment.

Dr. DeShields has an extensive list of professional appointments and serves as Medical Director at the Camden County Health Services Center, Lighthouse Treatment Program, the Center for Family Services, as well as acting as a consultant for several area addiction centered agencies.

He is currently a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, President of the South Jersey Medical Society and past president of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (NJASAM)

An adjunct faculty member of UMDNJ-SOM, Dr. DeShields lectures both nationally and locally on the topics of alcohol and opioid dependence.
